Yesterday, the State Police arrested twenty Louisiana residents living in Winn Parish in a nearly year-long operation to break the growing problem in that area.
Police have warrants to make nine more arrests, but those people are still at large. Authorities took down a relatively massive distribution network in Louisiana. Almost every person who was arrested has been given a distribution charge.
What is more, weapons and explosives have been seized and what amounts to an entire drug dealing gang has been taken off the streets wholesale. Those arrested range in age from 22 to 54.
The drugs they were distributing included marijuana, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, and Hydrocodone.
The sophisticated police operation included investigations by the FBI, the U.S. Marshals, the Louisiana National Guard, the State Police and SWAT team, and the Lasalle Parish Sheriff’s office.
It is hoped that these arrests amount to a major hit to drug abuse in Louisiana.
Of course, the real solution to drug abuse is the reach people before they ever start using drugs in the first place.
