Psychiatry going insane?

By admin on February 14, 2013

It is a well known fact that modern psychiatry has officially gone insane.  What do you say?  Well I base this statement on information I got that is saying almost every emotion experienced by a human being like sadness, grief, anxiety, frustration, impatience, excitement is now being classified as a “mental disorder” and of course these are demanding chemical treatment that would include prescription meds.  There is a book titled DSM-5 and it is referred to as “psychiatry bible” expected to be released in a few months and it is listing exactly what can be classified as a mental disorder.  “Mental disorder” is named in the DSM-5 are including “General Anxiety Disorder” and it can be diagnosed in a person who feels a little anxious.  If a person tells this to his psychiatrist he will be diagnosed as such.  This disorder is listed in their DSM-5 and doctors everywhere can operate off of this information.  Now your insurance will pay for it because it came from this bible.  It works like this.  Some intellectuals get together and invent a made up disease then they vote it into existence by a show of hands at a meeting then it is listed in this bible.  After that they convince teachers, parents journalists and government regulators that this disorder; well everyone has it and need medication for it.  All of this leads to getting someone on a drug and the pharmaceutical industry now gets the buck.

LA Times opinion piece reports this information:  “Allen Frances chaired the DSM-IV which was released in 1994.  He now admits it was a huge mistake that resulted in the mass over diagnosis of people who are actually quite normal.  The DSM-IV ‘inadvertently contributed to three false epidemics – attention deficit disorder, autism and childhood bipolar disorder’”

So if the former chairman admits to this kind of over diagnosing then for me that is enough to say when you go to your doctor and he says to you that you have some disorder then I would not pay attention to this and I would definitely not take these drugs.  Some of these drugs are very addictive and can lead to a person taking more seriously addictive drugs. This can lead to the need of drug abuse solutions.  It seems that they are coming out with a new DSM and it will include even more emotions as a disorder so just beware.  These disorders have a way of working their way into society and taken for granted, “yes, they do exist, well that is what the doctor said”.
