Kansas drug abuse

According to Wikipedia Kansas is a US state located in the Midwestern United States.  It is named after the Kansas River which flows through it, which in turn was named after the Kansa Native American tribe, which inhabited the area.  Its population is 2,871,238 and its capital is Topeka with the largest city being Wichita.  After the Civil war the population of Kansas grew rapidly, when waves of immigrants turned the prairie into farmland.  Kansas is one of the most productive agricultural states, producing high yields of wheat, sorghum and sunflowers.

Kccommunitynews.com reported that in March of 2012 the Clay County Sheriff’s office along with officers from eight Northland Police agencies arrested 17 people in connection with an eight month investigation.  They were searching for 23 suspects wanted on drug charges in this eight month undercover investigation.  What the end results was that 28 individuals were being indicted on drug trafficking or possession charges for marijuana, meth and heroine.  One suspect was indicted for selling an illegal explosive device to undercover agents.  There are 17 of the 23 suspects that are in custody.  Deputies were following up on leads about the location of three other suspects.  Five of the suspects were located earlier in the week.  The remaining indictments will be turned over to the Clay county Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Apprehension Team and they will continue to look for the suspects.

Kansascity.com reports May, 2012 that a 24 year old man was being offered for sale some marijuana in Wichita and he decided he didn’t like the quality of the marijuana so he didn’t want to go through with the deal.  What happened next?  That didn’t go over too well with the two dealers; they pulled out guns, took his money and fired shots at him as he fled.  On shot hit him in the back and another in the left thigh.  Lt. Joe Schroeder said, “A friend drove him to Wesley Medical Center, where his wounds were treated and he was released.  Police are looking for two unknown suspects.  One is in his late teens and the other is about 40.  They left the area in a black Cadillac with a black rag top and a 30 day tag.”

I guess people in the drug industry have disagreements also.  We are always making comments of the buyer and the seller but rarely do we hear about each of these guys fighting with each other.  I guess that is what all those violent acts are about in gangs.  If you know someone who wants to get off drugs get them to an inpatient treatment center where they can get safe and natural ways to detox and withdraw.  Something can be done about it.
