When I first got here, I went into withdrawal. It was difficult for me, but I got to the point where I could comfortably be there and confront my peers, and I felt very good about the program. From there, I went to the sauna New Life Detox.

Throughout my time in sauna, many things happened. At first, I couldn’t sleep; my hands were clammy, my eyes constantly watered, I was constantly yawning, and I had racing thoughts about using drugs. About midway through, my sleep started returning; no more clammy hands or watery eyes. My thought process shifted to thinking more positively. The restimulating effects of drugs have diminished, and I feel much better. I feel happier and much clearer-minded. At first, I didn’t know what to think about sauna, but now I am so glad I did it!

“This was, all around, an excellent experience.”

From sauna, I went on to Objectives. It was a very long road, but with hard work and dedication, it paid off! I learned a lot of patience doing this and that I’m much more capable than I thought. I also learned what present time was and how to be in it. This was, all around, an excellent experience.

After Objectives, I moved on to Life Skills. I started with Ups and Downs, which made me understand who was social and antisocial in my life. I also had some excellent conversations with my family and handled any problems that there were. I then went to Personal Values. Writing down all the wrongdoing I’d done was definitely a rollercoaster and more challenging than one would think. When I first started, I felt like I was doing them as a punishment more than to get all the bad stuff off my chest. It wasn’t until later that I got the satisfaction of writing them down. I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders, and I can finally breathe again. You would never think something like writing down harmful acts would help until you’ve done it. Now that I have, I can see a noticeable difference. I’m glad I put my all into it and got everything out of it. After Personal Values, I went on to Conditions, where I learned a lot. I learned who my friends and my enemies are. I also learned that I must start communicating with my family to improve our relationships. I also learned who the bad groups were and how to reenter into a positive group. Of all the steps in the program, I probably learned the most out of Conditions, and I look forward to applying them when I get out!

Through all this, I got to dig deep into my problems and figured out a lot about myself. This program has been great, and it really works. I’m so glad I completed it!
